He holds a Master's degree in Comparative Local Development (joint degrees from the University of Trento, Italy, the University of Regensburg (Germany) and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).

He completed his undergraduate studies at St. Cyril and Methodius University of the Department of Political Studies – Skopje.

Bakiu was an intern at the R.M. Assembly and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Democracy, Solidarity and Civil Society.

He has worked for over 7 years as an analyst at the Center for Research and Policy Making, further Bakiu is the founder of the Institute for Policy Research and Good Governance – IPPI.

He has participated in numerous conferences and seminars.

In recent years, he has worked in international organizations at UNDP from 2018 to 2020.

He then heads the Alliance's Outreach Center for Albanians

His areas of interest are decentralization, socio-economic analysis in a multi-ethnic context, local development and transparency of budgetary issues.

Bakiu has 10 years of work experience in the NGO sector, working on various projects.

Bakiu has work experience as a consultant in the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Justice.

Bakiu was also secretary of state in the Ministry of Political System for six months.
